Pretty good, but not as good as the first. The first one was more subtly humourous. This was more cheesy and obvious. The bad guys weren't as cool either. Bit of a mix between star wars and the hobbit unfortunately. The guy that plays hellboy kicks arse though.

Wouldnt buy DVD or see again though. I bought the DVD for the first hellboy.

Interesting. I found the first movie disappointing by ObviousTroll (4.00 / 1) #1 Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 02:58:11 PM EST
They took a lot of liberties with the characters in this Hellboy, certainly there was never any sexual relationship between him and Liz in the comic, but I enjoyed this one more from a straight summer-movie perspective.

In other words, the plot was trite but the fights were cool.

For the real Hellboy experience, you have to read the graphic novels.

Has anybody seen my clue? I know I had it when I came in here.

Hellboy is well-acted. by dark nowhere (4.00 / 1) #2 Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 03:20:48 PM EST
In a lot of ways the movies were not that great, but what tips it in favour of "I like it" for me is the fact that the main character (despite being a standard disaffected protagonist sort) is acted well enough to provide a rewarding experience.

I am not your dupe account.

... with explosions, ectoplasm and Rasputin.

Hellboy II is a bit more adventurous with regards to the plot arc, or so I've read in the reviews.
