I'm writing this because I don't know what else to do with the story I started for the WFC.
A few minutes ago Drew Breeze was called for intentional grounding from his own end zone. Which is a safety. Safeties make me happy. Two more points, Chicago.
Winter has come, a month or two late. This morning they were quoting the wind chill as zero, give or take five degrees (F, for those who wuss out and start using negative numbers while it's still warm out). So, chilly.
I have two pairs of knitted gloves. One, light weight, with rubber studs on the palms and fingers, are perfect for driving, or for other not-all-that-cold weather. The other, quite heavy and somewhat awkward, have a layer of thinsulate in them. Quite warm, but klunky. I take both of them with me in weather like this. Driving gloves, and walking-around gloves.
Did I mention I have my partner back? Which means when somebody's doing broiled chop with sauce, it's not me doing the heavy lifting. Though I managed a lamb chop with red wine and garlic marinade, and it was quite tasty, tyvm.
It was kind of amusing when toxicfur pointed me at a recipe for mustard vinaigrette, which we use with roasted asparagus (yum). I started getting out measuring spoons and wondering how much the roasted garlic we had weighed, since the recipe called for an ounce of the stuff. Our kitchen scale (never used, if I recall correctly) doesn't do small quantities like that very well. She laughed. She insisted on doing it herself. In the middle of making a whiskey peppercorn sauce for the steak. Without benefit of measurement apparatus. I am in awe.
Ummkay, my puter says it's 32-14 Chicago now. Yikes.
I'm posting one of our signature tunes for people to listen to if they like. This is the Ave Maris Stella of Josquin des Prez, in a performance by the Coro Stella Maris, of which I am a member. It was recorded live, last Sunday afternoon.
Now about those Boston Infidels. Seems 256 and ni are coming to town next weekend, arriving Friday the 26th during the day sometime. We figured we'd do a get-together. Perhaps dinner in Bostonia someplace? Suggestions? I'm told whisk[e]y is a desired feature of wherever we end up (though we could perhaps satisfy that need after we get them home again). At the moment I'm counting 9 or so people participating.
This is not to be confused with another upcoming phenomenon, namely a visit to Pan's Labyrinth. How's next Saturday afternoon work for people? That'd be the 27th.
39-14. Double yikes. Post this sucker.
