Squirrels can be noisy. by toxicfur (2.00 / 0) #1 Sun Feb 18, 2007 at 06:06:00 PM EST
Especially if they're protecting their territory. We have one who lives above the awning of our house, and he barks and chatters every time one of our cats wanders into the patio.

They used to yell at our cats all the time. Back when we had cats. :-(

That might explain it. by Alan Crowe (2.00 / 0) #4 Mon Feb 19, 2007 at 05:27:26 AM EST

I usually see squirrels in Princes Street gardens or the Botanics, both places with lots of humans, and lots of squirrels feeding on discarded chips or nuts brought specially to feed them. Not places where a squirrel could hope to stake out a territory.

The cycle path has embankments with undergrowth that runs wild. I can imagine a squirrel staking a claim to a territory there.
